Nestled in the countryside of Morelos, Hacienda Acamilpa is an exceptional architectural and cultural site defined by its expansive gardens, robust stone structures, and historical depth. Founded in 1604 by the Colegio de Cristo, the hacienda stands today as a testament to centuries of agricultural, artistic, and social life in the region.

Built alongside other significant colonial landmarks—such as Hacienda Santa Rosa de Lima, Hacienda San Miguel 30, and the Templo de la Asunción in Temimilcingo—Acamilpa played a central role in the economic and territorial development of the area. By 1851, it was classified as a third-class hacienda, ranking twelfth in the region and contributing substantially through taxation.

Historically dedicated to the cultivation and processing of sugarcane, the hacienda produced approximately 2,400 tons annually. Its pastry sugar received an honorable mention at the Paris Universal Exposition, recognizing the excellence of its production. Today, this legacy of labor, transformation, and exchange remains embedded in the site’s material fabric.

With its monumental architecture and cultivated landscape, Hacienda Acamilpa offers a setting where history and contemporary use coexist, providing a unique environment for cultural and artistic engagement rooted in place, memory, and time.
